Yesterday would have been my father's birthday. We marked it by opening the doors of Seahorse Bookstore to let people have a sneak peak at what we have done. My dad was a DIY guy and could turn his hand to anything. I've thought about him through every practical stage of getting the bookshop read...

I have now been in the shop a couple of times and I must say I have enjoyed each visit. So much so that I am going to attend the book club, a first for me. It’s brilliant that Ardrossan has this little gem tucked in the marina. The staff go above and beyond to help with the shop offering a wide variety of books. A loyalty scheme is also available. This shop is a must for book lovers. Instead of purchasing online this shop offers everything you want and expect from a good old, proper, family run bookstore.

Very nice welcome and nice cup o tea for only one pound. Nice pictures by artist Kelsey Todd. Leaving with "The Nesting" by C. J. Cooke, which looks creepy. Recommend. Will become part of my Blog : V. Johnston Photography on Wix.

Never have I been so happy to come across a bookshop. First of all, the selection of books is excellent - from classic literature, to good quality poetry and modern writing (in beautiful hardback editions). I have been very well advised by the shopkeeper on what to take (and devoured the book in less than three days). Secondly, the atmosphere is very cosy, and the bookshop is situated only minutes away from the ferry terminal. I am very saddened to see a one star review about the prices of the books here. The place is no more expensive than any other bookshop. Of course one might find cheaper books online - but this is how one kills the independent shops across Ayrshire and Scotland, sadly. In short words, I would definitely encourage anyone to go to this bookshop, go around the selection of books, buy one, and enjoy a place with lovely people to advise one about the latest pieces of literature.
